It is said that one must have an intimate knowledge of the dark before fully comprehending the light. I find this statement oddly comforting as I explore the gothic side of my kiss. The Gothic culture of present day seems to take into itself all manner of good and evil and, for me, I choose to discard the evil and concentrate on the good, if you will. I love the darkness as a blanket of occasional cover against the harsh, bright lights of everyday reality. In the Gothic aspect of my nature, I can dress the part and feel the part, while
dispelling the notion that Gothic Society must be gory or harmful. I prefer to think of it as darkness with a bit of pleasurable mystery. But, if you are into this culture, you know that there are definite sides of gore and devil praise and darkness as something harmful or lonely. If you go to the Goddess section of my kiss you may believe that the only true devils and demons are ignorance and fear.
And, as far as the loneliness thing goes, well, if you have ever been to The Dungeon in New Orleans or any one of the Goth Clubs scattered throughout the US of A, then you know that loneliness is not necessary. Goths are great to each other: open and talkative about their ideal and beliefs. And, lets not forget how close you can get on a dance floor! Unfortunately, in the forest of New England, Goth Clubs are non-existent. But, I do so love to simply dress in black with my black velvet cape and wander about scaring a few of the local-yocals. Its a great feeling to be in line at a checkout and have someone ask me about the skeleton dagger ring Im wearing. Gotta take pleasure in the little things in life! So, this Gothic side if my kiss is more a guide to dressing and feeling and reading about and falling into the pleasurable aspects of a Kiss of Darkness. And, I hope that you shall leave here with a more intimate knowledge of the darkness which will allow you to better comprehend the light.
Goth Quote The night hath been to me a more familiar face than that of man. And in her starry shade of dim and solitary loneliness I learned the language of another world.
